Brodie has his 15 month check up yesterday. Ben went with him, just the boys. I just can't physically walk from the parking lot into the building and to the doctor's office.
Anyway, the visit went well. We found out that Brodie had a viral infection causing a sore throat, but the doctor said there really wasn't much they could do and it wasn't serious-it'll just pass.
Brodie had to get shots yesterday too! It was Ben's first time actually being the one in the room with him during the shots. Usually, it's just me, the nurse, and Brodie and I'm holding Brodie down. Ben goes out of the room and waits. They both did good! I did leave work early to go be home with Brodie while Ben went back to work, because baby got his shots.
Brodie measures 33 1/4" tall, head circumference is 18", and Ben didn't quite get the weight wrote down, but believes Brodie weighs a little over 25 lbs. :)
Our boy is growing so fast! It's crazy to think how this time last year he was so little and now, he's this walking/talking/jabbering little boy! Amazing!! :)
Oh, he also has a little girlfriend at daycare. His sitter told me the other day how they'll hold hands sometimes. A couple days ago Lannah's (his girlfriend) mom was picking her up the same time I was picking Bro up. She was telling me how (since she usually picks Lannah up before I pick Bro up) that the two will wave bye and say bye to one another. I was able to witness when I was there picking Bro up at the same time. It was SOOOOO cute!!! Lannah just kept saying bye to Brodie and Brodie kept waving and saying bye to her. Too cute!! His first girlfriend/best friend. I'll have to get pictures soon and post them :) Way too cute for words!

Baby bump! Well... More like baby mountain! :)
These were taken today (7/29/10) at work. Our Quality department (from both Lenexa & West Point) were all wearing green today! To signify our unity :) So that's why I'm wearing green, hehe. We took a group picture and sent it to our team in West Point and a couple people were like "WOW, you look like you're going to POP!" haha Yes, yes I do, and I feel like it too!
Anyway, today is the day before 36 weeks! Wow, about 3 more weeks and she'll be here. Amazing! Our next appointment is on Monday. I'm not sure if they'll check to see if I'm dilated any or not. I hope they do, I'm just curious to see. I'm ready for this girl to come out! haha :)

And here it is!
We have our induction date scheduled!! Naomi's birthday will be August 23rd! :) We'll go to the hospital August 22nd at 9pm and then the following morning they'll break my water and hopefully she'll be here that day!
Brodie came within 6 hrs of my water breaking from his induction, so I'm really hoping that she comes in 6 hrs or less! :)
I'm very excited. Very happy. Hope we make it to that day haha, if not, well then her birthday will be another day :)

When she comes home, she'll be wearing the pink flower clip with her pink KU outfit :) She'll be SO cute!! I can't wait to put the other flowers in her hair with her different outfits too! I love them, they're SOOO cute!! I may even sport a couple of them sometime too ;) hehe

Baby girl OB visit
Yesterday I woke up with the worst pain in my leg and hip, ever. It brought me to tears! Needless to say, I stayed home and rested. I did have to get up to go to our scheduled OB appointment though.
Appointment went great, heartbeat is good and she's growing still :) I told the doctor about the pain still and she suggested I use a cane. So, that's what I've been doing today-feeling kinda weird, but if it helps what else can I do.
Anyway, we got our pre-registration for the hospital. We'll be delivering at the same hospital Brodie was born at, St. Luke's South. She also asked if we wanted to be induced around our 39th week and I immediately said 'YES!' haha So, if little Nomi (btw, that's our nickname for her if I haven't mentioned that yet) doesn't decide to come before our 39th week, she'll be here between August 20th through the 23rd, depending when we can get scheduled.
I have been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions, but they're not regular enough to do anything about yet. And do they hurt! I had a real bad one last night and Ben was trying to talk to me about something and I had to tell him to shut up. haha And then this morning I had some pain in the "nether-region". Oh it was so bad! I really think this little girl is going to come on her own, but we will see.
We're getting closer and that's what matters. :)

34 weeks, about 5 left to go-she's almost here!!!!
Today we are 34 weeks! Oh how we cannot wait to hold our daughter in our arms, about 5 more weeks!! :D Remember, I'm counting down to week 39, not 40. :)
Our next OB appointment is Monday. I wonder if they'll check to see if I'm dilated, probably not. They probably won't check until week 36 or 37.
Naomi is still just dancing/kicking/punching/moving all the time in there! You'd think that with as little space is in there, she'd settle down a bit. But no! haha I can really tell that she's dropped because sometimes I can feel her just punching me down there. I think she might be long. Brodie was 19.5" long, she'll probably be the same or just a hair longer maybe?
One of the little girls at Brodie's daycare, her first birthday is tomorrow and her mother gave us a tub full of girl clothes this morning! Then a friend of ours that used to work with me came by my work this afternoon and gave me a tub full of clothes! WOW! First we didn't have enough, now we have all these little girl outfits! So excited to go through them!! :D
I also ordered off Etsy these CUTE flower headbands! It was 10 flower clips with one headband for $20! I want to put the big flower headbands on her head for every outfit she wears. I think little girls wearing those big flower/bow headbands are SOOO stinking cute! Our little Nomi (our nickname for her) HAD to have some too :) We got her pink, yellow, silver, ivory, red, lavender, black, peach, brown, and zebra print with a white crochet headband. I am SO excited to get them in the mail! And then put them on her, OMG she's going to be way too cute! :D
Anyway, I still have sciatica pain. The stretches haven't really helped, but I'm just trying to get through it because we're so close to the end. But that's really the main thing I complain about anymore, just that pain. Everything else is ok. Brodie gives my belly kisses when I ask him to kiss baby sister and he'll pat it saying "baby". It's SO cute!
Also, two of my closest friends-Tuyen & Amber-are throwing us a baby shower for Naomi. They sent out evites. If you didn't get one email me (alana.broyles@gmail.com). It's going to be August 7th from 2-4pm in Lawrence, KS. I'm excited that little Nomi will be having a celebration like Brodie did! She deserves it, she's just as important :)
We're almost there, Naomi is almost here! Next month I'm going to be the mother of a baby girl, NEXT MONTH!!! :) Pretty excited.

This is too funny!
Brodie's sitter gave us a couple outfits for Naomi the other day. They are SO stinking cute! I kept them in the bag until Ben got home the other night and when he came home he brought he bag over and I took the outfits out. I showed him, he agreed they were cute! haha :)
Well, Brodie, I don't think he was too impressed with his sister's new outfits. He was sitting on the other end of the couch and was playing with the clothes. He was more interested in the hangers actually. But it was just funny how he was playing with them, had to take a couple pics :)

Brodie loves playing with my belly & belly button!
These were also from last night before Ben got home from work. Whenever I lift my shirt up, Brodie's always right there playing with my belly button--he likes to push it in and watch it pop out! And he loves to pat my belly like I do.
It's very cute. I don't think he'll miss my belly much after Naomi is here, I think he'll be too busy getting used to her that he won't even think about it! :)

Two of THE cutest pictures of Brodie and Daddy!
These were captured last night, when Brodie woke up because his mouth was hurting. He finally calmed down and got all sweet with Daddy! These pictures make my heart melt! :)
Oh and Brodie now has 12 teeth! His 4th one on the bottom has popped through! His 15th month check up is next Thursday. Ben has to take him all by himself-first time for Ben, because I just can't walk the distance from the parking lot up to the second floor to the dr's office. I'll post Ben's updates from the visit next week. :)

A couple things we got baby girl
While Brodie was visiting family, Friday we took the opportunity to do a little shopping for baby girl. We went to Burlington Coat Factory, to the Baby Depot.
We got her a blanket, some headbands, and some bibs. Ben is the one who picked out the blanket-not me. I picked out some blankets that looked like leopard print, I thought they were SO cute but Ben said no.
The bibs were too cute and on sale! I couldn't pass them up! And the headbands, I was trying to find one that would match her coming home outfit. I thought the pink one would, until we got home and its just a few shades darker. So, we'll have to go out and find another one that matches :D

Brodie's mini-vacay
Brodie, Nana, and Grandpa left our house Wednesday evening around maybe 6pm. After they left Ben and I just sat on the couch and kind of looked at each other like, "what now?"
It was VERY quiet in our home until we brought Brodie back Saturday afternoon/evening. It was just so weird, coming home after work to just the pets. I could tell that Vida missed him too, she would just lay there beside me and when I'd ask where her Brodie boy was, she'd look around!
On the trip back to Salina/Ellsworth, Nana sent me a couple pictures of Brodie where they stopped to get something to eat-at Steak N Shake.
Thursday and Friday my family went to Ellsworth to visit Brodie. My mom called me each time they were there so I could talk to him. It was SOOO good to hear his babbling and on Friday when my mom called me and put me on speaker phone, when Brodie heard my voice I guess he just turned his head so fast! haha
Friday evening Brodie went over to Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Gwinner's house to go swimming with his cousins, Christopher and Ashlyn! Great-Grandpa sent us some pictures from them swimming and it looked like Brodie had a really good time!
While Brodie was on his little vacation, Ben and I went to the Legends Shopping area and went to Build-A-Dino. It's like Build-A-Bear, but a dinosaur instead! My co-worker, Keiko, and her family gave Brodie a gift card there and we hadn't used it yet. So, while Brodie was away, Ben and I built him a dinosaur! It was really fun. We picked out the dino and they asked us each to pick a heart, close our eyes, kiss it, and make a wish. I did, not quite sure if Ben did! haha And then we also got a little shirt for the dino! He doesn't have a name yet, but that's ok. Oh, and we also put a little noise maker in the tail, so when you press it it roars!
Brodie also got his haircut while on his little vacation! Auntie Eden was able to see him, and he really needed one! haha He looks so grown up now its crazy.
Here's a pic on our way back home! We put his car-seat front facing too and he was SO interested in what was in front of us. His eyes were so big, it was so funny.
And when we got home, we could tell he was happy to be home. We were extremely happy that he was home too! It's not so quiet anymore! :)
Thank you SO much Nana & Grandpa for taking Brodie those couple of days. I was able to get the rest I needed and Brodie was able to spend time with his family he doesn't get to see very often. It was a win-win :) Now we know that we can handle being away from Brodie, when he's that far away. Might not be awhile before we do it again ;) hehe

Baby girl update
We had another doctor appointment on the 6th. Just a check up. Baby girl is doing good, heart beat is good. I didn't ask if I was measuring big or anything, I was more worried about my sciatica.
The appointment before they prescribed me some Lidocaine patches. They really don't help. The doctor I saw Tuesday said that they really don't work for what they're meant for either. But he did show Ben how he can help me stretch to make my back/left hip feel better. So for the past couple of nights Ben's been helping me stretch. But, I don't know if it'd just be too early to tell or not but I don't think the stretches are helping.
Naomi kicks and just dances around in there all the time! Some days I just want her to be still for a little bit. haha :) Hopefully her being so active in my belly doesn't mean she'll be all squirmy when she's born. Brodie moved around a lot too but when he was born, he was more relaxed.
Our next appointment is on the 19th. Hopefully they'll check to see if I'm dilated any-I have a feeling I am. And then we can discuss when we want to be induced, if she doesn't come on her own by a certain date. I want to be induced either August 20th or 21st. But, we'll see what her plans are. :) However, if she's not out by my selected dates, she will be out by then! haha :)
I think with Brodie being away today and tomorrow, Ben and I might go out to do some retail therapy for little Naomi to get our minds off of Brodie being away from us. We'll see though. I do know I definitely want to get her coming home blanket real soon. Something fun like we got for Brodie. His was brown with guitars on it that said "rockstar". So she has to have something awesome like that right! :)
Also, we're not going to be able to get those 3d/4d sonograms done like we did with Brodie. We're too late!! :( Most of the places I saw only go up to 30 weeks. We're almost 33 weeks. We did find one place that does them up to 34 weeks, but their pretty expensive. But its ok. :) More money we get to spend on other things for her :)

4th of July weekend, plus some
Our fourth was very nice! Ben didn't work on Saturday so the three of us really got to hang out together. We didn't do much, or go garage saling like we usually do Saturday mornings-we were a bit occupied with what had just transpired.
The morning started out with Brodie in his room, just playing and then starting to whine and cry. Ben got up and went in there to get him. That's when terror struck. Ben yells at me "Alana, I need your help NOW!" I'm trying to roll out of bed as fast as I can and Ben yells for me again. I meet him and Brodie in the hallway. Brodie, was covered in his own poop! He had it all over his hands, down his legs, on his feet, on his FACE, and he was diaper-less. Ben immediately put him in the tub and took his shirt off and then I proceeded to bathe him, twice. Once to get the poop off, then once to not bathe him in poopy water!
While I was cleaning up Brodie, Ben was cleaning up Brodie's room and crib. Apparently there were little nuggets of poop on the floor in front of Brodie's bed and a couple of Brodie's toys in his crib were covered in poop! Then, Ben says the worst of it all was grabbing one of the blankets and out rolled a big ball of poop Brodie had molded together. YUCK!!! My husband is SO amazing for doing the dirty work. I know I wouldn't have the stomach to do any of that!
So after we got done with all of that atrocity, it was about 10 in the morning. Ben and I were still just kind of in shock of what just happened and couldn't stop laughing. Even today, thinking about that makes me laugh so hard!
Saturday we didn't really do much but the morning incident. Sunday Nana and Grandpa were coming up to watch Brodie while his sitter is out on vacation and while Ben and I worked. Sunday was also Grandpa's birthday so Ben and I baked a cake and cookies. We didn't get to watch the fireworks because it rained. But that was ok, there's always next year. Plus, they're all the same haha :)
Nana and Grandpa stayed until Wednesday watching Brodie. On Monday, I didn't have to work but Ben opened his shop. So, the four of us went to go visit Ben at work. Grandpa hadn't seen Ben's shop yet. Brodie had fun while there, he found a new toy-an old keyboard. He was carrying that thing around. He'd lay on the ground and just type on it. Then he found a fax machine that was just his size! It was on the floor so he was able to stand and press the buttons. He loved that too.
Then Nana and Grandpa took Brodie go Bass Pro Shop to see if Uncle Dave was working. He wasn't, but Nana & Grandpa said Brodie had fun looking at the animals there.
Tuesday Nana & Grandpa took Brodie to the zoo! I had told them that when we went for Mother's Day we only went through the Australia part so they all went through the Africa part. Grandpa said Brodie really liked the monkeys the best, he kept pointing at them. He also got to see some of the sea lion show! He had a really good time. By the time they got back I was already home from work. And when Brodie got home, he was just full of so much energy! So I could really tell he had a great time.
Wednesday they took Brodie to the farmer's market in downtown Overland Park, just a few blocks from our house. They said he enjoyed himself there too.
Nana & Grandpa were going to go back to Salina/Ellsworth Wednesday night because Nana had training for the Census. So I did a lot of thinking. We wouldn't have a sitter for Thursday or Friday. So, more thinking. I've been having a hard time with my sciatica and just horrible pain shooting down from my hip to my ankle. I knew that I wouldn't be able to really take care of Brodie by myself and take him upstairs/downstairs from naps, etc. I knew I'd be hurting myself in the long run. So, I talked with Ben Tuesday afternoon and we decided to let Nana and Grandpa take Brodie back to Ellsworth with them Wednesday evening. But, we're meeting them in Topeka Saturday afternoon, so it's only for two and a half days he'll be away.
It's his very first time being away from us. It was really hard Wednesday while at work. When the time was getting closer to 4:30pm when I get off, that's when it was really starting to set in and the tears just started rolling. I would talk to Ben and he said that it would be ok and that we'd just need to get our minds off it and think about the pros in this. So I tried. Once I was off work and heading home, I kept it together. Got home, grabbed Brodie's things to pack to take with them and I was fine. I didn't cry at all! I hugged, kissed, loved on, cuddled with Brodie as much as I could-even making him annoyed with it haha However, Ben did seem more bummed out than I was yesterday evening. :) It was awfully quiet in the house last night. Pretty weird. But it's ok, we're ok, and Brodie's ok. :) Just gotta remember we'll see him again Saturday afternoon!
I have pictures from the fourth and pictures from when Nana & Grandpa took Brodie to the zoo, I just have to upload the pics from my camera onto our computer and then post them on here. So I'll try to do that either today or tomorrow when I have some free time :)
Hope everyone had a great fourth and whoever sees Brodie these next couple of days, please be sure to give him lots of hugs and kisses for us!!! And tell him we love him and miss him and can't wait to see him Saturday! :D
