Our weekend

Friday evening Ben's friend Andy Barta came down and stayed with us through Sunday. Brodie was pretty excited waking up Saturday morning and seeing Andy! :)

Saturday Ben & Andy went to work at the shop and I stayed home with the kids. Well, Nomi need more diapers so we went to Target. Now, not sure about any of you, but when I go to Target I can't walk out of there with just the one item I really needed. :) I picked up the diapers and just kind of mosey around for a bit while looking for some gel insoles for Ben. Brodie kinda started acting up while in the stroller so to the dollar section we went. They usually have some little toys there that can entertain Brodie. Well, he got a foam light-saber! You press a button and it lights up with 4 different patterns. He REALLY loves it! I also got Nomi some CUTE CUTE Halloween clothes-a couple shirts (Frankenstein, pumpkin, and a skull/cross bones), leg warmers, leggings, and socks. Brodie got some Halloween socks too and Cars (from Disney) socks too.

That late afternoon/evening, we went to the American Royal BBQ! It's the world's largest BBQ competition! It was SO fun! And the BBQ was delicious!! When we got there, we had to put the kids in the double stroller. Brodie got SO upset because he didn't want to be buckled in the stroller. So, the walk down there he was crying. We got there and gave them our tickets and he had unbuckled himself and the gal taking tickets told on him, haha. So we had to re-buckle him which pissed him off even more. Eventually we just took turns holding him. One of our friends was playing with his band there too, so it was good to see him play!

While at the American Royal BBQ, we walked around and looked at the tents of the competitors and also went to the petting zoo! After looking at the competitor's tents, we got some ribs. Brodie LOVED them!! He's not a big meat eater, but he LOVED them!! He would take big ol' bites and also would scarf any down that we gave him. He was like an animal!! haha :) Made Ben proud, that's for sure! By the time we went to the petting zoo Brodie was back in the stroller and he LOVED looking at the animals. We didn't feed/pet any of them, just looked. We then went into the BBQ Expo building. That was pretty neat. Before walking out, there was a person dressed in a BBQ sauce bottle. We got close to have Brodie take a pic with it and Ben, and Brodie hated it! The sauce got close and waved and Brodie looked up at him, screamed and threw his cookie at it!! haha! It was hilarious. We quickly walked away. :)

When our friend's band was playing we went back outside to listen to them. Brodie was getting restless so we got him out of the stroller and he was just running around. He would kind of, when got close to the music, wave his hands in the air. It started getting chillier and we could only chase Brodie around for so long. So we left. It was a really good time while we were there and when we got home Bro went right to sleep-we wore him out! :) The baby had fun too, she didn't really cry or fuss when we'd get close to the music. I think she really likes music, she always looks like she's just quietly listening :)

Sunday we went to a pizzeria down by our house for lunch. There was a video game area and a couple of those riding type toys in the front. Brodie and I went to the video game area while waiting on the food and played a boat racing game. We came in 7th and Brodie did most of the driving on the wheel!! Then up front, I put him in the car. I couldn't find where you put the money to make it move/light up, but he still had fun pushing buttons and steering the wheel. He didn't want to ride on the pony, I think that freaked him out some.

That evening for dinner we went to Johnny's BBQ-it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the Food Network! Brodie was having fun up until the end when he wanted to climb over the table to the side where Naomi and I were sitting. He liked the BBQ though!! We each had got some burnt ends, I got the beef and Ben got the pork. Brodie also liked the bread that came with it.

After dinner, Andy left to go back to Ellsworth and we went to Target. Brodie got a couple more toys (imagine that ;)). One of his toys is those microphones where you speak and it sounds like you're in an auditorium. He loves just speaking in it! The other toy he got is a leapfrog toy. It's fridge magnets. There are all the letters of the alphabet, and then like a bigger piece you can fit the letters on. When you place the letters on the bigger piece (I have pictures to better explain), you can push the letter and it'll say the letter and also the sounds it makes-"B, B makes a ba sound". And there's also a button you can press and it'll sing the ABC's. Brodie likes that song, it's one I would always sing to him in the car on the way back or to visiting family. This morning while getting sis ready and feeding her before leaving, he was just in the kitchen playing with it. :)

Oh, we also went to Old Navy on Sunday to get Ben some new pants and Brodie some long sleeved shirts. All the shirts we got are 2T size. It's so crazy how fast they grow! We need to get him a whole new wardrobe here soon, and a new winter coat! He's really shot up!

I'll post pictures of our weekend adventure in another post so this one isn't so long :) Hope everyone else had a great weekend like we did!!
