Saturday Dad had to work so it was just me and the boy. We played and watched some Nick Jr. I rearranged the kids' room, switched where the dresser and the other crib was. I think the room looks a lot more roomier now.
Brodie has this new thing where he likes to try to climb up the stairs. He's great at getting up the first step, which is just like a platform for the stairs going up. He'll just hang out on there and I'll be sitting on the couch watching him. My coat had fallen off the door knob and he would just lean up against my coat and just lounge. It was pretty funny. Then he'll start getting a little brave and try to go up the stairs. That's when I'll go over there and we'll just hang out. He'll jabber and go up a stair, then look back, then look ahead. Usually one of the pets are on the stairs, either Zoey (the Siamese) or Vida.
He also has this thing where he'll crawl up to the TV and just stand there and watch it. He'll pull things, such as mail, off the top of TV stand. Then if some music is playing he'll sway to and fro. It's pretty cute.
Brodie can say "uck" and "uh oh" and the weekend before last Ben taught him how to say "Jayhawk"! He already says "hey/hi" and waves. Oh, he's now jabbering on his cell phones. Before he wouldn't hold them to his ears, but now he does. He holds the phones backwards/upside down though. But he'll just hold them there and just start going on. It's so funny! The other day he was using his truck book as a phone! haha
He's still not walking, which is fine with us. His 8th tooth still hasn't came through, but we think it won't be too long before it does. He's just been drooling a lot.
Last Friday we made a surprise visit to Dad at his new shop. Ben took him out back and showed him the back of the shop and the front. He was so happy to see us! Brodie was, of course, very happy to see Daddy too :) I picked Brodie up from daycare because I got off early and right when I got there he had just laid down for his nap. So, he was up until about 4-4:30, and then he fell asleep in my arms at the shop. But after awhile, he just became dead weight and I was getting uncomfortable sitting there and had to move. Tried to gently move him to Daddy's arms but he woke up and we needed to go home. He jabbered all the way home and didn't take a nap until he went to bed! haha
Brodie is also enjoying more big boy foods. We had BBQ ribs the other night, he loved them. He doesn't really get much "baby food" anymore. We just feed him food from our plates. I had ordered some Mexican last week and he ate the rice and beans with me! He also had some of the chicken from my chimichanga.
Oh, when we're in the car-when I take him to or pick him up from daycare-and the music is on, he'll start singing! It's so cute! He'll just be in the back seat "do do do do" haha And I'll start "do do do"-ing back and we'll just keep going back and forth. He's so funny and such a happy boy.
Next month he'll be a year old. I already know I'm going to cry on his birthday. It's so amazing how much he's changed over the past year. He's grown into such a handsome little boy. He's going to be such a great big brother too!
